Abdulkadir Mohamed Ahmed

Treasurer

Abdulkadir Mohamed Ahmed is an independent consultant and former Deputy Director at the Somali NGO Consortium/CARE International. In this capacity, he also served as Co-Chair of the NGOs Access Working Group alongside INSO. During his tenure, Abdulkadir was an active member of several UN-led coordination platforms, including the Humanitarian Country Team (HCT), Inter-Cluster Coordination Group (ICCG), Access Working Group (AWG), and Civil-Military Coordination (CMCoord).

Prior to this, he worked with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) as a Humanitarian Affairs Officer and with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) as a Food Security Analyst in various locations. Abdulkadir brings nearly 20 years of diverse experience spanning the private sector, civil society, media, human rights, non-governmental organizations, and UN agencies.

His role at Independence House as treasurer of the board of directors will add value and enhance transparency and accountability within the organization. He holds a Master’s Degree in International Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid (2017–2018), a Master’s Degree in Development Studies (2013–2015), an Executive Diploma in General Management (2010), and a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language and Literature (2001–2005). In addition, Abdulkadir has completed numerous professional development courses on humanitarian coordination and food security across Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Austria. He is professionally trained in Household Economy Analysis, International Humanitarian Law, Humanitarian Access and Negotiations, as well as Food Security and the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC).
