  • Independence House seeks an inclusive and just Somalia community; community that respects, represents and promotes inclusive voices of her people in decision-making,  upholds and respects the citizens’ rights and provides equal opportunities for all; where accountability and responsibilities are valued and opportunities are shared equally and equitably across her population and no one is prejudiced on the basis of any form of dominant identity. Cases of human rights violations are pursued passionately and dealt with according to the law and everyone feels part of a growing and progressive community. Independence House avers that;
  •  Human life is sacred and should be treated as such.
  •  Access to opportunities and advantages should be shared equally across all citizens irrespective of gender or any different identify.
  •  Civil society organization and the media are permitted to play their oversight and information communications role without fear or prejudice.
  •  A good society is premised on understanding the challenges it faces and creates a voice for those who are oppressed.
  •  That the role of the civil society organization is to work with the duty bearers, holistically pointing out gaps and providing opportunities for course correction by the administration.
  • That advocacy and awareness should be data-driven and sensitive to the local context.
  •  That any form of human rights abuse that disenfranchises a section of the community, in whichever way, is akin to disenfranchising entire humanity.
  • There is there is need for transparency and accountability at all levels of public management.
  • That a society that values her citizens is high likely to prosper than those that violates the rights of her citizens. As a civil society organization, Independence house;
  • doesn’t generate any profit from its activities.
  •  Depends on donor subvention for running its programs.
  • Is transparent and accountable to the public and the beneficiaries.
  •  Is not involved, in any form, in the local politics and remains apolitical.
  •  Subscribes to the application laws on humanitarian standard, SPHERE standards, UDHR, Ethics in Fundraising.
  •  Is bipartisan in all its engagement.
  • All standards applicable laws apply.
