Independence House and Somali Public Agenda Partner to Advance Good Governance and Civil Rights in Somalia

Independence House has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Somali Public Agenda, marking the beginning of a long-term partnership focused on governance, public service reform, and the protection of fundamental rights in Somalia.
The agreement was signed in Mogadishu by Independence House Executive Director Hassan Mohamud and Somali Public Agenda Executive Director Mahad Wasuge. The two organizations committed to working together through research, capacity development, policy engagements, and joint advocacy to support democratic governance and strengthen the rule of law.
Speaking at the signing, Independence House noted that the partnership responds to the growing need for credible research and inclusive policy discussions in Somalia. The collaboration will include joint publications, training programs, public forums, and knowledge-sharing initiatives aimed at improving public services and supporting citizens’ rights.
Somali Public Agenda and Independence House also agreed to promote transparency and accountability in their work. They will co-develop proposals to mobilize funding for joint projects and hold regular consultation meetings to track progress and plan new activities.
The partnership highlights the shared commitment of both institutions to build resilient governance systems, protect political and civil liberties, and empower communities through informed public debate. It reflects a broader vision of an inclusive Somalia where evidence-based research and civic engagement drive development and policy reform.
Independence House looks forward to working closely with Somali Public Agenda to advance these goals and deepen cooperation in the months ahead.
